Ruth Squibb (1928–2012) was a British-born South African artist celebrated for her Impressionistic oil paintings and later, sculptures in fondue cement. After completing her education in Johannesburg, she settled in Cape Town, where she became renowned for capturing the interplay of light in urban and coastal scenes, notably of the Bo-Kaap and Cape Town Harbour. Her works often evoke a sense of nostalgia, portraying everyday life with a direct and unromanticized approach. Squibb's legacy endures through her evocative portrayals of everyday life and the natural world.
