A rare find, this antique Victorian period pounce pot is unusual to find as a silver-plated item as they are usually made of silver. Pounce pots were used to hold a fine powder—such as cuttlefish bone or resin—that was shaken over wet ink to dry it and prevent it from bleeding on rough paper.
